Powderpuff Football Brings Fun and School Spirit to Spencer Field

The competition was fierce, the school spirit was strong, and the fun was nonstop as Spencer Field came alive under the lights for the annual Powderpuff Football Game. Girls in grades 9–12 took to the field wearing class T-shirts, with varsity football players serving as coaches. In the preliminary games, the Class of ’28 defeated the Class of ’30, while the Class of ’29 defeated the Class of ’27. The championship matchup featured the Classes of ’28 and ’29, with the Class of ’28 claiming an exciting 8–6 victory in overtime.

Sponsored by the Student Council and coordinated by Abel Ayres, Student Body President, the event brought students together for an evening of friendly competition, camaraderie, and class pride. The Student Council is advised by Mr. Sean Hoskins, with assistance from Mrs. Rachel Brown. Mr. Lee Gandy, Mr. Brent Kaneft, Mr. Neal Moersen, and Mr. Blane Russell served as officials, while Mary Katherine Dutcher offered the invocation and Mr. Chris Santos provided play-by-play commentary. Additional assistance was provided by Mr. Glen Rector, Athletic Director; Mr. Rip Ripley, Assistant Athletic Director; and Mrs. Angie Gilley, Athletic Association President, who helped with concessions.
