Continuing one of Wilson Hall’s favorite Homecoming traditions, the varsity cheerleaders transformed the hallways into an imaginative adventure with this year’s surprise theme, “Barons in the Wild.” Working alongside parents who stayed late into the night to help decorate, the squad covered the walls, floors, and ceilings with colorful displays, photographs, and creative details. The adventure began with cheerleaders gathered around a campfire and a football swinging through the jungle on vines. Four sections of the hallway featured different environments: a snowy landscape with faculty members skiing and ice skating beneath the slogan “Snow Chance, Warriors”; an underwater world with a submarine, glowing ocean depths, and Homecoming Court members portrayed as mermaids; a lush jungle filled with animals, ivy, and a safari Jeep; and a sandy desert warning the Warriors they would be “left in the dust.” The elaborate decorations, always kept a surprise until their unveiling, reflected countless hours of planning, creativity, and teamwork. Mrs. Frances James serves as cheerleading advisor, with Anne McCrea Williams as head cheerleader and Peyton Naylor and Livie Pedersen as co-head cheerleaders. The annual tradition is a wonderful example of the school spirit and collaboration that make Homecoming week so special at Wilson Hall.
