A grateful heart can shine brightly, even in the darkness. During Lower School Chapel, Mrs. Kristen McCaskill, Kids Director at Alice Drive Baptist Church used a glow stick to illustrate the importance of having a positive attitude and choosing gratitude over complaining. With the recent time change bringing darkness earlier in the evening, she reminded students that they can be lights in the world through their words and actions. Drawing from Philippians 2:14–15, which encourages believers to do everything without grumbling or arguing and to shine like stars in the world, she challenged students to focus on their blessings and develop thankful hearts. Each student received a glow stick as a reminder that choosing gratitude allows them to shine God’s light and make a positive difference in the lives of others.
