Chapel Message Encourages Students to Go the Extra Mile

Going above and beyond what is expected was the central message shared by Mr. Howie Owens, guest speaker at High School Chapel. Drawing from Matthew 5:41, in which Jesus teaches that if someone requires you to go one mile, you should willingly go two, Mr. Owens encouraged students to embrace the three-word phrase “and then some.” He explained that while the first mile represents obligation, the second mile offers an opportunity to serve others and demonstrate Christ’s love. Challenging students to do more than simply meet expectations, Mr. Owens reminded them that going the extra mile through kindness, generosity, and service can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life. The Chapel Program is coordinated by Mr. Lee Gandy.
