Thank you to the private donors from the Class of `81 for working with Mike Williams, SC artist and Class of `81, to bring a beautiful piece to Wilson Hall, enriching our Fine Arts hallway in the 300 building. Sunset in the Flats 2 is a gift that will inspire present and future Baron artists, and we are honored to display it for our community. Mike Williams, who earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of South Carolina, began his professional career as a fine artist and sign painter while in college. He has been prolific throughout the past three decades creating more than 4000 works. He’s maintained a steady presence in galleries and has had his work exhibited in the South Carolina State Museum, the Columbia Museum of Art, the Lake County Museum in Chicago, the Carillon Building in Charlotte, the Sun Trust Plaza in Atlanta, and the Volksbank in Kaiserslautern, Germany.
