Speaker Smith Visits AP Government Class

Rep. Murrell Smith ’86, Speaker of the S.C. House of Representatives, visited Mr. Lee Gandy’s AP Government class to discuss the importance of compromise, working across the aisle, and participating in the political process. He also explained aspects of the state legislative process and committee system, challenged students to register to vote and become engaged citizens, and encouraged them to consider the person rather than simply the party when evaluating candidates. The visit concluded with a student question-and-answer session.

Wilson Hall is fortunate to have alumni and parents who remain closely connected to the school and generously share their time, experience, and talents with our students. Whether serving as guest speakers, mentors, volunteers, or supporters, they enrich the educational experience and help students see how lessons learned in the classroom connect to life beyond campus. Their continued involvement reflects the strong sense of community that has long been a hallmark of Wilson Hall.
